FPer Press Association.] Sydnet, September 19. Tho second day's races of the Australian Jockey Club's spring meeting was held to-day. The following are the results of the principle events : — Oaks.— Bessie McCarthy 1, Pearl Powder 2, Cradle 3. Merry Bell was the only other starter. Betting, 6 to 4 on Bessie McCarthy. Passing the sheds Bessie McCarthy asserted herself and ran into second place. Pearl Powder showed the way into the straight, but at the distance Gollan's filly passed her without effort, and won by a length. Time, 2uiin 48sec. Spring Maiden Stakes.— lch Dieu 1, Trier 2, Collolns 3. Ten started. "Won easily. Trier beat Collolns for second place on tho post. Time, 2min 45:Vsec. Metropolitan Stakes. — Paris 1, Aureus 2, Sunshine 3. Alro ran— Sir William, Sundial, Oxide, Brockleigh. Jeweller, Little Bernie, E.K., Launceston, Sainfoin, Dan O'Connor, Warpaint, Miletos, Ducrow. Ethelberg, Pharamond, Elymas, Rossfellan, Solanum, Salutation, and * lied Hill. Bet» ting 30 to 1 against Paris. Won with the greatest of ease by two lengths from Aureup, Sunshine a fair third. Time, 2min 40isec, First Steeplechase. — Cardigan 1, Bruce 2, Beggar Boy 3. Sixteen started. Cardigan won rather easily at the finish. Time, smm 29<»ec. Squatters' Handicap.— Bluo Potor 1, Confidence 2, War Paint 3. Fourteen started. Time, 2min 12sec.
