CONTROL OF THE RAILWAYS.
The Hon Mr Soddon evidently intonds to battlo hard for the control of tho railways, and tho patronage such control would place in tho hands of thn Minister who presided over tho Commissioners. To our surprise we notice that .Sir Hubert Stout supports tho Premier in his efforts, and we are still more surprised at bis eayiug that Boards in Kngluud have proved failures when the direct contrary is the case. No doubt there ure. members in tho House who will point this out, therefore further reference from us is, at present, unnecessary Of course tho alleged Liberals, who follow the Premier, will give their support to the Hill with a " Jively sense of future favors to come" because should it ever, unfortunately lor the country, become law, many or all of them who fail to secure Beats in Purlin, riient at the next general election, may hope to be provided for " liberally " with billets at the expense of the country " they love so well." Mr Sc-ddon has always hated theComnnssion(-r«, although no man knows better than he does the immense benefit the colony has derived from their prudent administration, but to gratify his personal dislike to them he would sacrifice anything which stands in the way ot the accomplishment oi his revenge. ____ mmm _ mmmmmmmmmmmm^
