The rebel squudrou has nillictcd great damage on thw city. Another attotnpt of the rebels to effect a landing was frus« trated. The Government despatched a warship to waylay on their arrival the merchant steamers coming to the nssistance of Iho rebels. Although at first it was announced the foreign men-of - war would not permit the cfty to be shelled, they have retrained from interfering. The residents fo the capital are in a panic and are leaving tho city. The foreign warships have rniimvod out of the ljno oj lire.
