THE Public Trust Office of New Zealand in a Government institution to afford, at low rates Of commission, a secure and convenient recourse for those who, desirous of forming trusts in the colony, cannot satisfactorily appoint private trustees or executors, and for persons unable or unwilling to undertake or continue the administration of the trusts accepted by or imposed upon them. The Public Trust Office, constituted by "The Public Trust Oflice Act, 1872," has been since much enlarged in its functions by amending Acts, to meet growing requirements. The Amendment Act of 1891 facilitates administration, authorises prompt distribution, provides absolute security against hmss to estates from investments discretion of the Public Trustee, and insures the regular payment of tho inturost. The Security and Fidelity of the Public Trustee's administration must bo considered of tho utmost importance to every person contemplating tho appointment of iv trustee. Tho colony yuarantecs the fidelity of the administration, and Guarantees also the Integrity of the Capital Funds invested at tho option of tho Public Trustee. Tho Colony Guarantees also, on tho capital funds arising for investment out of tho properties placed in the Public Trust Oflice, a i common rato of interest, to bo paid quarterly, Free of all charges of the Public Trust Office. The value of this guarantee is in tho Guarantee of the Colony against loss from investments in bad or Insufficient securities, and against loss from delay in invefitniout, and for tho regular and punctual payment of the interest, free of all charges of the Public Trust Office. In tho appointment of Trustees there must alwayß bo Serious concern as to the security of the Capital funds ; and the larger the capital funds the greater must be the concern for 1 security, and the less for a high rato of in- ! terest. Tho Public Trustee cannot die, cannot leave the colony, cannot become disqualified, or involved in private difficulties; and cannot be distrusted. In private trusteeships, death and absenco render necessary numorous and expensive deeds not required by Public Trustees ad- ■\ ministration, which has, besides, tho offloa t solicitor's advice without expense to the I estates.
