DISASTROUS FIRE AT MAURITIUS. (PEB PHEBB ASSOCIATION). Melbourne, September 4. The Treasurer estimates that with the reduction in subsidies to municipalities and the primage duty, the revenue will just about balance the expenditure ; but, as it is intended to reduce deficit, further taxation will be necessary. Sydney, This Day. The French mail bnugs particulars of a disastrous fire at Port Louis, in the Mauritius. The most important, the wealthiest, and the commercial quarters of the city havo been destroyed. The loss is ten million rupees.
