WOMEN ENFRANCHISED.

The clause in tho Electoral Bill which grants tho franchise to women has passed both branches of tho Legislature. By this over oue hundred thousand names will be added to the electoral rolls of the colony. Wo have no doubt that this new voting power, the potentiality of which is necessarily unknown, will exercise a beneficial influence ou politics as they are understood in this country. That women will exercise the privilege with much greater discretion than the sterner nex we honestly believe, and at tho same time they will bo less likely to pin their their faith on candidates for parliamentary honors who make politics a profession. New Zealand is to be congratulated on this step which places tho colony iv the front rank of progress in the direction of electoral reform.
