Volunteer Items
The Manchester Rifles paraded last night for inspection by Lieut-Col. Newall. There was a good muster, about forty members of all ranks being present. After the inspection Captain Xirton and Lieut. Burlace drilled the corps in company movements, manual, and firing exercises. Colour- Sergfc. Milson put the men through the bayonet exercise. After parade, the Colonel complimented the company on the progress they had made, and informed them that Colonel Fox would inspect them some time this month, the date of which would be notified in due course. The following were elected to be members of the Shooting Committee : Sergts. Aitkon and F. Saywell, Vols. Evans, Wilson, aud Card. Parades for this month are advertisod to-day, and it is expected that, in viowof the visit of the Commandant, ovory man will mako it his business to attond them.
