The Pans newspapers aro assuming a bellicose tone towards England in connection with Siatu. The Fronch laborers ejected the Italians from the quarries at Nancy, and a placard was posted up refusing to permit them to share French bread. London, August 29. The Times, the Pall Mall Gazette, and other newspapers demand that the British Government should take steps to prevent Franco proclaiming a protectorate over the country. August '60. The Manchester Chamber of Commerce has made a protest to Lord Rosebery, Secretary of state for Foreign Affairs, against the French action in Siam. Calcutta, August 29. It is believed that France is seeking to drive Siam to an overt action as an excuse for proclaiming a protectorate over the country. SIGNAI'OHE, August 81. Commercial men have appealed to Lord Rosebery to prevent the stoppage of trade with Bankok. They urge that if the French demands are persisted in it will inevitably result in a protectorate over Siam.
