(Notes by Cbackshot.) The Sydney Telegraph says : — Mr S. Hordern has a strong quintette of two-year-olds in training ; a filly by Nordenfeldt— Ouida ; filly by Nordenfeldt — Pungawerawera ; filly by Castor — Necklace ; colt by Castor — Belista, and colt by Nordenfeldt — Lady Norch. The Quida filly is fullsister to Strathmore, that out of Pungawerawera is full-sister to Crackshot, and half-sister to Brigadier, Telford, and Tranter, and the Necklace filly is half-sister to Miss Letty. Some if not all of these animals should give a good account of themselves in the future. The Australasian states : — Chester heads the list of winning sires for the past season, with a total of £13,505, his principal winners being Camoola, Projectile, and Trieste. Glenmarkie is second with £10,417. thanks to Glenloth's victory in the Melbourne Cup. Trenton is a good third with 16 winners who together appropriated the sum of £SSBB. Newminster is fourth with 25 winners who won 40 races of the total value of £6883. Then follow Grandmaster with £6398, and Richmond with £6316. Malua had no Cup win to help him along, and has droppod to thirty-sixth. Marvellous Ims fallen from £11,159 in 1891-92 to £4702 during the past season, and Nordenfeldt has dropped from £12,019 to £5085. Sunrise has 24, winners, who accounted for no fewer than 70 races, totalling £3065. Archie, Martini-Henri, Albury, Fry. ingpan, and Swiveller have improved their positions. Mr H. B. Warriner, of Marton, has purchased the well-known racehorse Merrie England for stud purposes, and the animal is expected to i arrive during this week.
