Manchester Rifles.
« A meeting of the Shooting Committee of the above, was held at the Empire Hotel on the 24 instant, when the following business was transacted. It was decided to class the Corps for ntle competition during the coming season, the prizes being allotted as under : — Mr Basting's prize, a watch, to Class A ; Mrs Uastie's gold medal, to Class B ; Lieut. Bray's prize to Class C. The above prizes to be won three times consecutively, -or five times at intervals during the season. Miss Washbourne's medal to be presented to the competitor in Class C, making tne highest score in any single competition during the season. The rangos for the above to be 200, 300 and 500 yards for Classes A and B, 7 shots at each r&ugo ; 200 and 300 ior Class C, 10 shots at each range. The ranges to be subject to alteration at the pleasure of the Shooting Committee. It was resolved that an effort be made to procure Martini-Henry rifles for the use of the Corps. The new shooting committee will be elected after parade next Thursday. Votes of thauks to the donors of prizes closed the business.
