A thousnnd strikers attempted to enter Kbbw Vale nnd overawe the men lit work, but were fru*trnted. The Miner."'* Conference is Mttinu in London, at which n quarter of a mil lion miners are represented, exclusive of Scotland, Northumberland, nn I Durham Delegates from the lntter county were expelled because the men did not join the strike. The Midland Kailway Company is losing LIO.OOO per week, Great Eastern LIO.OOO, and Great Northern LIB.CXX) through the strike. Indian coal is being brought in b$ steamers in larce quantities. Tho Daily Chronicle says that the soldiers sent to South Wales are armed with ball cartridges, and have been ordered, should they be compelled to use them, to fire low. Paws, August 22. Matters arc now quiet at Msmes. The municipal ollicials were punished for not taking proper steps to protect Italians. Tho JtrUian Embassy has assured M. Develle that payment of compensation to the victims of the Nisiues outrage will be accepted as reparation. They roly upon an enquiry being made, and will be fully satisfied if the offenders are punished. VIKNNA, AugUSt 23. Serious labor riots have taken place here, and many of the police were injured.
