(rER TRESS ASSOCIATION). Auckland. August 23 Dr. Dalxiell, Pukekohe, and a woman named Maria Gracie were charged with unlawfully assaulting Annie Jane Dazioll, aged 24, by tying her to a post nnd beating her with n cat o 1 nine tails. The Auckland branch of the Society for the projection of women and children sent two solicitors of the Society to aid the police with legal assistance. When the case came on the girl was absent in Auckland. The Bench, despite tho strong opposition of the Defence, granted a warrant for the arrest of the girl in order to obtain evidence. Mr Bourne, solicitor for the prosecution, expressed the belief that tho girl was kept away from the Court.
