I A meeting of ratepayers was heKl in the Schoolroom lust Saturday for the purpose of deciding on some one to stand for the position of Warden on the Pohnugina KoaJ Board, made vacant by the retire, ment of Mr Burton. There were thirty present, and Mr Guj was Foted to the clinir. Messrs G. It Lucas and T. J. Olaphim were nominated. As it was considered the Block was fairly reprc* sented by those present, it was rr solved to decide tho question by ballot. The ballot was in favor of Mr Lucas, and a requisition inviting Mr Lucas to stnnd was signed by iho*c in the room, nnd will be forwarded in due course Mr Lucas will be present at the meeting on Friday, and will give nn nddrexs. The state of our roads was then discussed, and it was resolved (hat a committee be appointed to go round and inspect all the road*, and ascertain whnl amount of work is wanted on each of them, so as to giro every settler « good road to his section, such committee to consist of Messrs Pool©, MrKenztc, and Vickerj, sud report at the meeting to be held on the 20 ih in&t at the same place, with a view to taking steps to raise a loan to complete the whole of the roads in the Block. A hearty vote of thank* was accorded to Mr Burton for his services on the Pobingioa Hood Board. The meeting closed with the usual vote of thanks to the Chairman. A meeting of the members of the TVcsloyan Church was held on Frid.ny, Mr Guy in the chair, for the purpose of drculiug on a <ite for the church building It was reunited to accept the one offered bp Mr Dillon, which is an ncre teciton muntcd on the main road in tho township. A cordial vote of thanks was accorded to the donor for hid liberal gift, nnd to the other gentlemen who had pro f««rred auctions for the purpose.
