The liondon agents ot Messrs J. Holme* *nd Co., of Wellington nnd Rienhnim, report under date July 7th, as follows : — Wool— At the low level of prices which has be»m established there is a general disposition to operate, and consequently, during the present week the market has been steadier, and competition from the different sections of the trade more general and better sustained. Prices are however without any quotable change. It is estimated that there will probably be from 60 to 70,000 bales held over which will entail a curtailment of a week of the present series. The total offered to date is 18,379 bales of which 15,093 bales, 8.32 per cent, have been bought in. Tallow— About 1400 casks were offered at to-day's auction, but with a quiet demand, only COO casks found buyers at late rates. The London Agents of the United Fanners' Alliance, Messrs W. Weddel and Co., report under date London, July 7th, as follows.: — Wool— Tho sales have continued now for two weeks fit about opening rates for Rood light conditioned Merino wool, but ft rather easier tone has lately been develop**! for heavy and inferior parcels in the grease, go that these must now be quoted a little easier than at the opening. Several large lots of New Zealand Merino have been offered, nnd these have •II sold At a good id reduction on last •ales' prices. The bulk of the New Zealand produce, however, has been cross, bred. The finest descriptions which, at the outset were quoted about equal to closing April rates, in the meantime have experienced a fall of Jd to Id per lb. The coarser grades of good lustre, and light in condition, tell freely at about 6 per cent lees money than last rates, while inferior and heavy wasty sorts are quite |d per lb lower. Offering! to date comprise some 170,000 bales, including 79,000 bales from New Zealand and 92,000 bales from Australia. About 165,000 bales have been sold, of which 75,000 bales were of New Zealand, and 88,000 of Australian origin. Arrivals for the fourth series amount to 49,000 bales, including 9,. r >oo from New Zealand, and 84,000 from Australia.
