Arbor Day
Owing in Bomo dogree to the inclemency of the weather, there was not the usual amount of interest taken in the above institution yesterday afternoon which we had hoped to uee, atill those who took part in the proceedings worked in a most energetic manner, and did their utmoßt to make the affair a success. The burdeu and labour of tho day fell upon the Mayor (Mr E. Goodbebere), Councillors Carthew, Chamberlain, and Fowles, Dr Johnston, Messrs Kuox, Younger, Owen, Gosling, aud C, Bray, junr. The first tree was planted by Miss Johnstou, and a considerable number were put in, principally Along tha south Hide of the Kimbolton road. We can only hope that thoir labors may be crowned with success, and a splendiu avenue of trees in years to come, add to the beauty and attractiveness of our rising township. 110 lime and piano trees were planted. Most of the trees were presented by Dr. Johnston, F. Y. Lethbridge, W. G. Haybittle and F. Owen.
