(PKB PBKBH ASSOCIATION ) Uukkimn. August 15. A conference, of representatives of tho Anglican, rresbytorian, Wesleyan, Conpitional, Itoptict, and Bible Christian denominations was held to consider the desirability of cooperating to secure an amendment of tho Education Act in tho direction of religious instruction in schools. In tbe discussion some diversity of opinion was manifested, but eventually, by 1? to 8, it was resolved that the meeting take such measures as may hereafter b« agreed upon to assimilate the New Zealand Education Act of 1870 in those clause* that relate to religious instruction. It was also decided to hold a public meet.
