The •' silver" Detnocrates in the Lower House have agreed to oppose the repeal of the Sherman Act, unless the present system is replaced by free coinage and have resolved to appoint a committee to draft a Free Coinage Bill, A caucus of the democratic members of the Senate indicates the silver men are strong enough to prevent the repeal of the Sherman Silver Act, unless some substitute is introduced. Bomb, August 10. The Italian Mint is coining ten million ten and five centime bronze pieces, in order to meet the demand for small change. London, August 9 The Government enforced the closure on Mr Chaphn's motion condemning the closing of the Indian mints.
