Mr M. Henry reports on yesterday's sale ; — A very small' entry both sheep and cattle came forward to the Manawatu Live Stock Auction Mart. The attendance was also very small, but good value was obtained for marketable lines, and most of the stock were sold at the following quotations : — Cattle.— Dairy heifers to £5 19s 6d: yearlings, £3 ss, £4t to £5 ss. Sheep. — Fat ewes 13s. Messrs Nolan Tonks and Co. report : — Elthain.— Calves, 12s to 20s; weaners, 80b to 88s; 18-month old steers, £8 7b; 2-year old steers, £4 ; 18-months old I heifers, £2 10s to £2 12s ; 2-year old heifers, £2 16s to £2 18s ; 2} -year old heifers in calf, £3 12s 6d to £4 ; springers, £4 2s 6d to £5 ; dairy cows, £5 to £6 7s 6d. At Hawera. — Fat and forward bullocks, HB 10a ; forward bullocks, £5 7s 6d to £5 10s; fat cows, £4 10s to £4 14s; store cows (poor), £2 14s; cows in good condition, £8 12s to £3 16s ; springing heifers, £5 to £5 11s ; dairy cows (mixed sexes), £2 6s to £2 7s 6d ; 2-year old steers, £8 16s to £8 18s; 2 year old heifers, £8 to £3 14s. Sheep.— Lambs, 6s 3d ; ew6s m lamb, 8s 3d. The Egmont Farmers' Union report : — Our Hawera sale of the 9th inst. was not quite so satisfactory a one as that which we held a fortnight before. We quote :— Cattle— Fat bullocks, £6 10s to £6 15s ; 2-year steers, £4 Is to £4 9s ; 18-month steers, £8 to £3 8s ; fat cows and heifers, £3 IBs to £4 10s 6d ; springers, £5 2s 6d to £7 7s 6d ; heifers in calf, £8 6s to £5 ; 12 to 18-month heifers, £2 7s 6d to £3.
