INCOME TAX IN VICTORIA. (FEE PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Melbourne, This Day. The Legislative Assembly passed the Income Tax by li to 38. The Premier intimated he would abolish the primage duty on ad y&lorem and fix a duty on goods. Speaking at the Mayoral luncheon, the Minister for Defence said the Victorian Government were taking steps to bring about reciprocity between the colonies. The Treasurer stated that even with vigorous retrenchment, the Government would require to find new sources of revenue. Hobart, This Day. The announcement that the Government intend to abolish the AgencyGeneral in London and recall Sir C. M. Braddon has caused considerable surprise, j the general opinion being that it is a mistake. Thubsday Island, This Day. The ship Franco Arago, with cable to be laid between Queensland and New Caledonia, passed here yesterday en route for Brisbane.
