— (PKB PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Lo-vdon, August 8. Mr Gladstone has intimated to the House that he will not adjourn till the Home Rule Bill and Supply is passed. The recess will then be taken, and another session held in the autumn. Mr McArtney has presentod a petition from South Australia to the House of Commons against Home Rule. Mr Chamberlain, in a magazine article, contends that the Home Rule Bill em powers the Irish Parliament to foster Catholic prejudices, coerce Ulster, and legalise the Plan of Campaign. The Government enforced the closure on Mr Chaplin's motion condemning the closing of the Indian mines. The House of Lords has adjourned until the 22nd. In the House of Commons, Mr Mac* artnej moved an amendment to the Home Rule Bill similar to that of Mr Balfour's which was struck out on Mon* day owing to the absence of the latter. The debate on the Bill was adjourned The Government accepted an amend* nient compelling members of the Irish Parliament to take the oath of allegiance, also another amendment excluding priests from sitting in Parliament.
