| PER PKESS ASSOCIATION.! AUCKLAND, August 4 The city election resulted in the return of Mr (Jndtnnn by a majority of 731. Tho contest waa well fought, and the greatest good humour prevailed throughout. The fight excited the keenest interest of any single election in the history of Auckland. It was raining in the morning, but the weMher cleared up at mid day. Towards dusk a crowd of several thousand people gathered in front of tho City Hall and waited for the result, which wns received with great cheering. The followine arc the details : —
