_ — ♦- , — - Owing to tho wet weather which has again sot in, slips havo taken place in the Gorge, consequently yesterday's afternoon train from Napier was half an hour late, thus necessitating a delay in the despatch of the Wellington express trom Palmerston. Several of tho streams along the Manawatu Company's line are very high, and in boiuq instances the water is running over the railway bridges. There is every appearance of the ram continuing, and it is feared that damage to the permanent way will result. No damage has so far been reported in this district, although the rivers and streams are all very highOirinjj to slips on the Manawatu lino, the matt train did not arrive here until about 1 15. |I'KB TRESS ASSOCIATION.
