Palmerston Hospital Board
The monthly meeting of (be above was held yesterday. IVneot— Messrs G. M. Hod son (chairman), Taylor, I'ark, Karenhill, Saxon, Purkiss, and Goodbehere. Correspondence was received from Meiers fchtrUnd and Co., acknowledge ing indent for surgical instruments to be ordered from Messrs Arnold and Sons, London, And stating that the order had been forwarded on to tbeir London house. A cheque for Ll 6s was received from Mr W. 0. Pearce, Colyton, being balance of subscriptions collected by him, and the Secretary was instructed to forward a letter of thanks to Mr Pearce for his efforts on behalf of the Hospital funds. The bitlance>sheet showed tbat, including the balance on Slst March, 1892, of £1197 10s Bd, the revenue from all sources to the Hospital was £3963 8s 2d, and *%he disbursements, including £315 Sis 5d for maintenance of patients in the Wellington and Wanganui Hospitals., and £224? ISa for progress payments on the Hospital building, were £3034 6s 6d, leaving a balance of £929 2s 6d to carry forward. Towards tho Charitable Aid account the local bodies contributed £539 1* 6d and patients £11 4«, and the disbursements from this account were, ideluding £400 proportion of contributions from local authorities to Hospital accoun> t £992 9s Id, tearing a debit balance of £442 3s 7d to that account. The assets comprise cash m the bank £911 2s Sd and other items £1971 10s sd. and the liabilities, including tho overdraft in Charitable Aid Account of £442 3s 7d, 1*971 5s id, a rery satisfactory state of affairs. It was resolved to invito applications for the position of Matron. Four tenders were received for the nupplv of blankets, and it wan decided to invite Mr Hamilton, of Feilding, to give * his opinion as to the lowest tender, Mr Kavenhill to accept a tender according to Mr Hamilton's decision. On the motion of Mr Taylor, seconded by Mr Goodbehere, it was resolved to ask the Wanganui Hospital Board to return the amount received by them from this Board, by demand as settlement of accounts between the the divided district as this Board is now of opinion that the demand was illegal. The accounts of W. G. Shearer, £11 6s; and A. Bade, £5, were passed for payment.
