Sheep Farming in the Colony
An interesting return submitted to Parliament yesterday shovrs the rapid development of sheep farming in the Colony during the year ending 30th April last. In that period the total number of sheep in New Zealand increased bj 786,978— 0r 461,064 in the North Islnnd, and 3'J5,014 in the South Island. The following were the increases in the vari« ous districts:— Auckland, 49,768; Napier, 168,435 ; Wellington -West Const District, 242,871; Marlborough- Nelson District, 8243; Canterbury Knikoura District, 224.132 ; Otago, 93,539.
