Jopp, drowned in the Waiinata river, on the 15th of July, is not yet found, though a diligent search has been made by the settlers, and a large reward is offered. Wellington, August 3. Tbo barquo Achievement, for the safety of which some Anxiety has been felt, she being 171 days out from Liverpool, was sighted off Stephen Island yesterday, and may be expected to ar rire oil the heads to-night. Auckland. August 3. Mr Rces finally addressed the electors to -night in the City Hall. There was a crowded meeting, and considerable disturbance. Several men were ejected by the police. The meeting broke up with mingled cheers and groans. Both sides state their confidence of victory tomorrow. The body of tho woman recently found drowned on tho Takapuna beach has been indentiiied as that of Margaret Smith, wife of a gumdigger.
