The Licensing Act Amendment Bill passed its second reading in the House thiß morning by a large majority. This can only be looked upon as a great victory for the Temperance Party, although the measure introduced by Sir Robert Stout is not of such a sweeping character as that prepared by the advocates of prohibition. The substantial majority in the Houso indicates that the temperance question will be one largely dealt with at the next general election, and many candidates will make that a strong plank in their political platform. The " working man " and " the lubor question " will be lost sight of then, and the battle cry of the period will be " Prohibition."
