At the half yearly meeting of the Wei lington District Assembly Knights o Labour resolutions were passed affirming the desirableness of electing local bodiei by a householders franchise; abolishing the totalisator ; granting direct veto with out prohibition ; local bodies letting wort on the co operative principle ; abolishing grand juries ; inspection ot sailing vessels abolishing education boards ; condemnins the insurance scheme of the Railway Commissioners; amending the Land Transfer Act to limit the acreage of land held by one person in fee simple to 64C acres first class And 2000 acres second class ; raising local rates on the uneruproved value of land only. The Govern, tnent to be asked to appoint a commission to enquire into the condition of the railways before resuming control. In the event of the Government refusing a commission, they be asked for a return of the cost of F.M engineer?, and the amount they have returned for the outlay. The next meeting to be held in Otaki. Delegates from about 15 towns were present.
