The absence of the South street bridge is already doing serious injury to the trade of the town, and several complaints have been made to us on the subject. We were informed this morning by the Town Clerk and engineer, Mr G. C. Hill, that tho cost would be only A'3oo. Therefore, considering the importance of the structure and its small cost, tho sooner the Council have a new bridge erected the better. We hope the Borough Councillors will consider this very important subject at their special meeting, to be held on Thursday night. We understand that n petition from the ratepayers is now in course of signature to be presented to the council, urging the work to be undertaken. We may mention that in the present state of Queen street it is not fit for extra traffic, and the Warwick street bridge is too weak to stand heavy dray traffic.
