Whey the intelligence reached us that the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company had suspended, we expressed tho opinion that such suspension would only be temporary, also that as the company was quite solvent, residents in tin's district who had surplus balancec coming to them, of the proceeds of wool or cereals consigned through the company for sale, would receive their money in due course as the drafts must be already on tho way. The opinion has since beer justified, and in the meantime, or until reconstruction has been effected, arrange ruonts have been made with the New Zealand Laud Association (limited) tc conduct the Commission Agency anrl Produce Business hitherto carried on bj the company. Practically there will be no solution of continuity in the business of the New Zealand Loan and MercautiU Company as far as the colonies art immediately concerned. We are glaci indeed so excellent a state of things exist! and that the public confidence in the good management of the company will be thoroughly re-established
