* Mr Matthew Henry reports:— At the Afanawatu Lire Stock Auction Market there was a fair entry of both sheep and cattle and the attendance wns np to tho usual number. Bidding was on the whole slow and trade ruled in favour of buyers. Tho following are quotations :— Cattle. — Springing heifers. i$ 2s 6d to I*6 2s Od ; dairy cows, £4 16« to £6 ; fat cows, £4 10* to £5 lls ; yearlings, 85s to tl 9s ; 18 month*, jC2 19s. Sheep.— Lambs, 0s 8d ; ewes in lamb, mixed ages, lls. The United Fanners' Alliance report ; — At our nale at Paltuerston on the 13th inst. there was a very good attendance but bidding sadly lacked life although tho quality of the stock offered was in most cast* good, especially in cattle lines. We quote an follows : — Yearlings, £2 Is ; aprinaing heifers, £ 5 to £ 6 ; dairy cowb, £0 10« to £8 Is. Lambs, 0s 9d ; empty ewes, 2-tooth, 10s 6d ; ewes in lamb, 9s yd; wethers, lls. Messrs Abraham and Williams report : — At Pabiatua yesterday, owing to the unfavourable weather experienced for the U«t week, many farmers were unabJe to bring stock forward, consequently we had a small tbongh otherwise successful snle. We quote:— Fat cows, £4 15s to £5 2s 6d ; Ji-year steers, £4 15s ; dairy cows, £4 10s to £5 IDs. Ewes in lamb, fls ; •horn lambs, 7s lid.
