At the close of the sale Mr Carr (whose introductory remarks were published last issue) announced that the Alliance intended to keep a stock register, so that the settlers who did not wish to enter their stock in sales could have them sold privately. Mr B. B. McKenzie, late auctioneer for tbe Alliance then addressed a few words to those present and said he would take tbat opportunity to thank those with whom he had had business for the courtesy he had always received. He thought the Directors had done the best thing they could in selecting Mr Carr from amongst the thirty applicants who had applied for the position. In conclusion Mr McKenzie hoped that Mr Carr would receive the support and assistance he deserved, and that all would work heartily together for the benefit of the Alliance.
