SALISBURY FARM HOMESTEAD ASSOCIATION.

TO TIIE EDITOR OF THE STAH. Sib, — In your issue of July 6th the undermentioned paragraph appeared : " Several Pohangina settlers waited on Mr Baker, Commissioner of Grown Lands, in reference to maps of the Salisbury Block, Pohangina. It was stated to Mr Baker that a charge of 7s 6d per plan had been demanded, but the Commissioner assured the deputation that no oharge would be made." . The Commissioner was furnished by me with a copy of the advertisement that has lately been inserted in thp S-fALE'aud Manawatu Daily Times, and which, no doubt is still fresh in the v m{uds^f Jfchpse of your readers who are interested in tbis question. As tbe Commissioner was fully aware of the final call; made by the Committee of the Salisbury, he would no doubt bave the same thoughts in bis mind with regard to the complexion put upon the affair by this deputation as those haye who knew tbat tbe call was due six months before tbe plans were issued. Every member of the Association ■ is, or was, in possession of a printed circular detailing the nature of this call, and which would have been brought forward on tbe day of drawing, only that tbere was no time for it. I may add that the working expenses of this Association have been less than any other in this part of the country, and tbe members have obtained a farm, so to speak, close to their doors. Many of them can talk glibly enough of tbe bloated capitalist and the rights of labor, that ia, when any one elae is concerned, but don't seem inclined to put their theories into practice for those who work for them. Permit me to take this opportunity of publicly thanking those who were English enough to pay the call, although they had their sections given them first. I am, etc., F. W. Whibley. Secretary Salisbury Farm Homestead Association. •pajataMMWasaMßS-aMa
