Railway Returns
The following are the traffic returns of the Napier-Taranaki section for the four weeks ending 27th May, 1893, and for the corresponding four weeks in 1892 :—

A Parliamentary paper recently laid on the table of the House shows that for the year ending 31st March, 1892, the. amount on mortgage in the colony was i' 26,333,519, while in the following year, when Mr Balance's new taxation was in force, the amount was £'27,984,365, or over n million nnd n half more than the previous year.
