Last night v£reet ;^the chi^^^^^^^^^^^^^^J ArmjrfceJs th^^^^^^^^^^^^H tea. Owing there was only a fair attendance. JsH adults, but the children mustered i^^ strong force. After tea, an adjournment was made to the Arniy tßarrackf where a very interesting nieefrng 'was conducted by Captain Dixoq,, who is engaged in the juoior work of the Army. The evening song bj the children was gtpe through with much enthusiasm. An address, was then delivered by Captain Child* on the junior work in' Bolls, followed by s duet, "What is your Conscience Saying," by Captain * Dixon and Lieutenant King. A song entitled, "I Long to he There," >wa* next pleasingly rendered by the children. Miss N. Braid/ then gave ;»< Bible reading very nicely. Captain Dixon next delivered a ufrel item in the shape of 44 chftlfc|a)C7' By means of chalk writing blackboard, he showed how an UddreW could be made far more interesting to children. "Father, Doa'W&u Hear the Angels," was next sun* by Miss A. Braidjr exceptionally if oil. A chorus by the children, in ffJueh eaoh child kept time with arms and legs; was capitally gone through. "Band of Gideon" was then sunjf by Captain Dixon, and was provocative of much laughter. An enrolment of junior soldiers was the next item W the programme, and Captain Dixon, said there were now 800 junior soldierY in the ranks. In the course of the next twefr* months, General Booth expected to ornate 1 000 officers Jfrom thjs '; junior rank>4ttall parts of **">ft?lfo HffVA Wfablea were bountifully snpplied, with good things, and were president ' brer by Mesdames Watts, Glover, Douglas, Christensen, and the Misses A. Streeter and G. Cantofi.^ The proceeds of the entertainment are to be devoted towards furthering the junior work. Our report of the musical evening, at the barraoks on , Thursday last, omitted to state, that a piece, entitled ! » The Midgets,'* was played b> the Junior Band in ii most able manner, and was one of the Ifeat itema on that evening's programme..
