The ordinary monthly meeting of the Education Board waa commenced on Monday. Present — Messrs Notman (Chairman), Sanson, Bridge, Boas, Baker, Fry, Hurley, and Beckett. Ashurst.— From Mr Kitchen accepting position ofpujMl teacher; confirmed. Stanway. — The matter of the Stan way vacancy was referred to the Executive. . Feilding Committee. — From the Feild\L ing Committee recommending the ap. I nient ot Me James Galland as assistantft master. Appointment confirmed. ■ Campbelltown.— From Sarah. BroadW. bell, npplving for ctdetship Resolved that attendance does not warrant appointment. Ohin«iuti. — Resolved that the name of the teacher (.Mr Brook) now acting at i Ohingaiti 'be recommended to the Com--1 nrittee for permanent appointment. I House Allowance. — Mr Beckett moved I the motion, of which he had given notice, A to rescind the present regulation re house BjaWowance. Mr Bnker hud great pleasure HTin seconding the motion, as he conthat at prceedt they were, instead making their system one that rccoclong service, they were doing just reverse. The Rev. Mr itoss said he have to Bupport the present raoalthough he shonid like to hnve a modification in some points. Mr Sanson could not agree with the proposnl present 'system was, to his mind, somewhat one-sided, as he could not see one teacher tn Wangannl should £40 a year and another £30, teachers in charge of larger schools other part* of the district only re» £20. On being pat the motion was carried by seven to one. Apiti. — Letter from Committee re fencing. Payment of account agreed to. H| Colyton— Application for £1 for the of a dividing fence. Resolved, That the Board hare no funds for the purpose. H Asburst —Letter asking the Board to grant pound for pound for ifon fence in Hr front of the nehool. Not entertained. ■ Halcombe>— Letter from Mr Cojrlton H objecting to the deduction of a weeks' H"-«alary on, account of his absence through Hgillness. It was resolved that the money be refunded. If. Awahoa, Pohaopna.— An application Ut for establishment of school. Resolved 1y that the Board would consider the matter j v as soon as possible. j Bunaythorpe.-^-ApplicaHon for grant j X' of £3 for necessary repairs. Application Hp granted. - B Sandon Sm,«H Farm Block.— An apphWt cation from tbe settlers on tbi« blook K was received fot'petmusion to fall bush K- on the school reserve, as tiiey were willy'• ing to do it without expense to the Board B y Permission waa granted, with the proyie© Mk that the Board was not pledged to build ; P& also that the reserve be transferred to the Wt Board. The Board then adjourned.
