By a letter dated the flth instant the secretary of the Crown Flood Committee Relief fund of Queensland acknowledges receipt of i'sl from the residents of Feilding. Apropos of this we remind our readers that a lecture will be delivered iv the Assembly Rooms on, Tuesday next when the subject of these floods will be ably dealt with. Tho Rev W. Morley who fs announced to lecture in tho Salvation Army Barracks on Tuesday next, giving an account of his experience during bis recent visit to|Amonca, is a keen observer, coupled with tho power of graphic description This will be a rare opportunity of hearing a New Zealanders impressions of that wonderful country. Tho lecture has boen well reemvud in the southern citios, and the object is a worthy oue viz|: in support of tho Woalejan Homo Mission Fund. There was a fair attendance at the " Mutual " last Thursday evening, to hear Mr Clement's essay on "Gideon," which was most interesting and instruct tire. It was arranged to have impromptu speeches an J a spelling bee at the next meeting on Thursday, the 29th instant, and on Thursday, July 6th, a debate on the question •' Should publicans receive compensation," will be held. Mr Cartv will lead tbe debate in the affirmative, and Mr J. C. Thompson will take the nejtatire side of the question. The Primitive Methodists of Feilding, aro now having a long felt need met by the erection of a vetttry at the rear of the Church. The vestry will be a good large room, and will be a great|boon for Sunday School and work evening services. The vestry will also have a fire-place in it, so that during the cold winter evenings the meetings will be uiade more social and attractive by the comfort of a fire. The opening af the vestry will be celebrated by a public- tea aud meeting, on Monday week, July (3rd, particulars of which will be advertised.
