Warning to Young Men

PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, This Day, Samuel Hill and William McCarthy, young men, were . found . guilty and, sentenced to two years' hard labour. Counsel for Hill called several witnesses, who stated that until about eighteen month* ago Hill's general behaviour was most exemplary, but since that time he had associated with evil companions, who had proved his ruin. His parents were highly respectable people. In sentencing the prisoners, Jiuige Richmond' referred in scathing terms' to the conduct of Hill, who was guilty of a cowardly and brutal assault. In some instances fair play was a redeeming feature in prize fighters, but Hill had lost all sense of manly instinct and a more cowardly business he had seldom heard of.
