Mr Reteuieyer's clearing sale of dairy cows yesterday afternoon was exception* ally well attended, settlers being present from all parts of the district. Mr F. L. Jackson officiated as auctioneer on behalf of Messrs Abraham and Williams, and discharged his task in his usual capable manner. The average price realized for the 19 cows submitted, was £7 14s 6d, a result which must be most gratifying to the vendor, and speaks well for the excellence of the animate sold. Messrs Greville of Pahiatua, Fergussoa of Birmingham, Buruett of the Ashurst road, and Richmond were the largest buyers. A four year old half bred Jersey bull, bred by Mr Dermer, of Awahuri, was a bargain at 5 guineas. The separa. tor realized £12, and other miscellaneous articles fetched fair prices. The United Farmers Alliaiice report : — We had a good sale at Birmingham on Tuesday, There was a good attendance of buyers, and bidding was brisk. Ererj* thing was sold under the hammer except one pen of cattle and two pens of sheep. Cattle.— Fat cows £5 14* ; to £5 19s ; fat 2-year bullocks, £5 lls ; springing heifer?, £5; 18- month steers, £3 6s; yearling steers, £2 2s 6d ; weaner steers. 335. Sheep. — Aged ewes in lamb, 5s Id to 8s Id ; shorn wether lambs, 6s 7d to 7s Id ; shorn ewe lambs, 7* to 7s Id ; mixed lambs, 5s 4d to 6s lOd. Hordes.— Hacks, L 4 10s to L 6 12s 6d. We also offered section 24, Birmingham township, but it was passed in at L 39, L25 being offered. The next sale at Birmingham will take place on June 7th.

Messrs Gorton and Son report that fair entnes came forward of stock at Bulls last week, and Awahan on Tuesday. At tho latter sale the class of stock was very good aod consequently nearly every thing was sold. The prices at both sales were slightly better. Our quotations are :— Cattlk.— Bulls : 3 year bullocks. £5 ; 2 year mixed, £3 4s; weaners, 2-year mixed, 28s 6d. Awahuri : Forward oows, i' 4 ss ; heifers in calf, £4 10s ; milkers, £5 10a to £6 10s; weaners, 20s to 295. Sheep. — Bulls : ewes in lamb, 8s ; 2tooth wethors, 11s lOd; shorn lambs, 4s 6d. Awahuri : 2-tooth Romney ewes, 12a , 2 tooth Lincoln ewes, 9s lOd to 139 ; brooding ewos in lamb, 4-tooth upwarde, 10^ 8d to 10s 9d ; wethers, lls 'Id.
