The Manchester Rifles paraded for inspection on Thursday evening, over 40 members being prescut. SerjjVMnjor McMillan put the men through various movements, which were very creditably performed. Aft>r the parade. Lieut. Kirton was elected Captain of the corps by a lar«e majority of the members present at the meeting. Lieut. Kirton was at (he time in Wellington on business connected with the corps, /•<,- (he building of a drill shed.
