At the opening ceremony of the Imperial Institute, the Queen said the establishment of the Institute was a symbol of the unity of the Empire, and would be the means of effecting a closer bond with the colonies. May 11. Tho Times, commenting on the opening of the Imperial Institute, sayi the striking display afforded by the ceremonial shows that no section of politicians can afford to be indifferent to their duty to maintain the unity of the Empire. May 12. The Queen has commanded an artist to visit Woolwich and Hounslow to prepare pictures of the colonial military teams. At the Imperial Institute thousands of visitors viewed tho cool chamber containing dairy produce and carcases of meat which is being exhibited by New South Wales. Victoria and New Zealand are arranging exhibits of cool chambers on similar lines to that of New South Wales.
