The following are the traffic returns for the Napier-New Plymouth section of railways for the four weeks ended ■ Slst March, 1893, and the corresponding period in 1892 : —
Totals... 18,540 19 4 21,023 8 1 The passengers in 1892 were 64,375, and in 1893 only 59,148; goods in 1892 29,992 tons, and in 1893 37,835 tons; chaff, wool, etc., in 1892 20,554 tons, and in 1893 16,141 tons. The surplus for tho last 6ix months will moro than cover the deficiency indicated above.
