AN EXPLANATION.
TO THE EDITOR OF THK STAH. Sir, — In your issue of May 4th, I notice a par giving Mr Fairfield Thompson credit of being the designer of a churn, made to the order of Mr G. R. Jones, Three years last November, whilst judging at the Hawera Show, I saw and bought a churn of the same dtscription made by Mr Symes, of the sash and door factory, Hawera, who told me it was the kind most aproved of in American factories. Mr T. D. Cummins (of Cummins, Sharpe and Co.) informed me he had seen them at work and highly recommended them. Mr F. Thompson took a pattern of my churn and made one for himself of the same kind, with the exception of the lid, which is the same as used in the factories up the coast. Mr W. Heald made one for Mr James Norman, and also one which is for sale in Mr Fraser's shop. I may say mine has been iv work ever since I bought it and will be offered for sale at a date which will be duly advertised in your paper. I am., etc., W. B. Retemeyer.
