A man named Resign Mai-tin, alias Wilfred Wilson Grey, who was arrested in March for organising a bogus lottery for some estate of land represented to be very valuable has been sentenced to three and o, half years imprisonment. Melbourne, April 17: A man named Condon has been arrested at Bnchan for the alleged murder of an Indian hawker. A portion of the murdered man's hand was fonud in a fire close to Condon's hut. Jewellery and other property were found in Condon's possession. This Day. During the week the post olKce savings bank deposits have increased by L 90.000. A laboring man severely attacked Mr J. iMunro, ex Agent General, and gave as his reason that he had lost LIOO in one of the institutions with which Mr Munro was connected. Adelaide, This Day. Many of the labour candidates who have been returned at the general election received heavy majorities. So far they are- looked upon as moderate men. Perth, This Dsj. Four more cases of small pox are reported.
