The Manchester rifles had a good muster on Thursday evening. They were put through the manual exercise, and afterwards marched out and drilled m company movements. . Before the parade was dismissed Lieut Kuton briefly sketched what had been done at the Easter Encampment and eeid that LieutenantColonel Newall was well pleased with them.' In recognition of their valuable aerriew when id camp Lieut Kirton iuformed the corps that Corporal Aitkeu had been promoted to be acting Serjeant. aud volunteers Pleaaauts aud Bovd to be lange-corporal*. This announcement was received with evident aatisfaction by the men. The corps was then dismissed but before they left the ground they gave three cheers for Lieut Kirton for his attention to them when at Johnsonvillo, Lieut Kirton has received the following Circular from Lieutenant- Colonel Newall, relative to the Easter Encampment: — The Officer Commanding desires to place upon record hw high appreciation of the ready obedience and willing assistance rendered by all ranks as. well iv the field as in the discharge of the more- onerous duties of camp routine. To officers comnanding corps the Lieutenant Colonel Commanding desire*, to express his thank*, not only for the regular waj in which their several commands were inarched in, but for their unremitting attention to the comfort of their men wh:!e mide- canvas. The discipline of the men, nanyof whom were recruits who had Dover Wore been in camp, wus, with two exceptions, excellent. It is matter of congratulation to the officers composing the board for the arrangement of supplies that the food was both good and plentiful. This was mainly- due to the soldierlike •/stem .adopted by each compan y in proriding it* own cook and cooking place, msteud of the general scramble which at one time obtained in our camps.
