THE EASTER ENCAMPMENT.

*^ J&fXJjyS EDITOR OP THE STAR. Sib, — Preference to the account of the sham-fight at Johsonville encampment by " Blank Cartridge" in the Feildino Stab of Tuesday, April 11th, I wish to make a few corrections in regard to the Manchester Rifles and the Wellington Guards. The Manchester Rifles were placed upon the top of an eminence com* inanding the Ohario valley ; and right in front of them, at a distance of a few chains, there was a hollow of three or four acres in ektenr^rrowriedNif^Ar trees, into which a number of the Wellington Guards, nnder Sergt. Roaeberry, bad crept to the nearest point, covered by the trees, to our foes — the Manchester Rifles. We fired two volleys into* Ihs aiysMss flnard of our foes before they knew of our ores* ence. They were thoroughly startled out of. their wits to> know ibtt w* were so" close. Just then; we bear? somjPpring in oar rear, and it turned out, to oar good fortune, to be some of pur own comrades under Capt. Patterson, who were firing at the advance guard too ; so at'Jhat rate they must have been thoroughly annihilated. Capt. Patterson then took command of the whole, and we,advanced''fnTskiruiisbing order to the. top. of theiiifl and poured a few volleys into the main body of the Rifles from nnder the proteetio'n of a ridge, so we had! the* advantage all through. They returned our fire with animation, but at that moment^Qol. Fox and Lieut.-Col. Newall, ' .who * bid .^been watching the manceyres, ordered^ us back to camp, and as we gotthe order to retire the Rifles then came to (be fore anoTfired volleys into us— but dead men can do no barm . Na : doubt it -was ipwt atTlfoii point (by the account of that the : -Rifle* saw 1 our white jacket* within easy range, because, we wan ill exposed in ratiririg towards Ho makes another mistake by saying mm did not return ' their fire then sDeeans* our pouches were empty. That wast not the case, because we carried half, the •^nmunition which was served out, to us back to the camp. When Lieut.-Col. Newall ordered us back to camp be pat i lew questions to Capt. Patterson, and '^then commended him on his ; attack. Eionly give an account of the proeeedioa :as I saw them— and, no doubt, 'V Blank-Cart* ridge " did the same ; but I hope be will now see; the traettatejoi things, tt^ give honor to whom honor is due. I am, eto.,, , < One of the WELUNaTOH Guards.
