(PER FnESS ASSOCIATION). Duxkdin, April 13. A deliberate attempt was made to burn down the Crown Hotel, Balclutha, rngs saturated with koroseue being stuffed under the door and fired. The smoke \ awoke one of the boord'Ts. Manaia, Tliis Day. J. Sutton, a farmer near Manaia, left his home about daylight one day last week and hns not been heard of since, and, although large search parties have been out for nearly a week, no clue hns boen obtained as to his whereabouts. On the day previous to his disappearance he made his will, and appeared quite sane ; he then stated that he intended going to rietou to see bis aged parents. j
