The Palmer Company

A fairly large and appreciative audience attended at the Assembly Rooms last evening to witness the bright and sparkling entertainment presented by Mr Chas. Palmer. The first part of the programme opened with a series of views depicting the rise and progress of the city of Auckland, the various scenes being rewarded with liberal applause. A magnificent and life-like portrait of Sir George Grey was also shown, the audience testifying their | admiration for New Zealand's " grand old man" by loud and prolonged applause. During the evening Mr Palmer rendered several vocal selections in splendid style, his singing of the dramatic scena " That is Love," and Celliers' well-known ballad " Queen of the Earth," being special features of the entertainment. We have not the space to enumerate in detail the various items presented, but to those who wish to obtain a pleasant evening's amusement, we can confidently recommend the refined and humorous entertainment presented by the Nonpareil Company. Mr Chas. Palmer appears in the Assembly Rooms again tonight in an entire change of programme, when we hope to see the efforts of tho talented and deservedly popular actor-vociilist rewarded with a bumper house. Prior to the entertainment this evening the Feilding Brass Band will play a selection of music outside the Assembly Rooms.
