Wellington Land Board

Wellington, March 30. At a meeting of tiie Land Board today, nt which the Commissioner, W. A. Filzherbert, T. W. Fisher, A. W. Hogg, and Fred Pirani were present, the follow* inp business of interest to this district was dealt with : — la the drawing for sections offered for selection, the following was tho result : — Section 1. Omahin«\ AHan Bell; Section 4, Mohohaki, Adam Kendall ; sec tton 3, Moliohaki, Chessiu^ and Banks. A declaration from S. Kn-iug had not been received, complying with the re quirements of the Act. The titlo will be issued on payment of amount due, 116 2.*. The application of George Maluoni, for section IG. block 8, Apiti, was declared informal, ns the declaration was not forwarded with the deposit. The application of Adam Thwaites Kendall, for section 'I, Block 8. Apiti, Momohaki, 300 acres, was granted. The following applications for titles were approved : — Pohangina, D. H. AJcKcnzie, H. Smith, B l J oole (for section 3. Block 13), E. Piorard, G. W. Huut; Kuirangn, A. Tanner. B Poole's application for tille for sec tion 4, Block 11. was approved on condi* tion that £14 more or improvements were completed. It McDonuld's application for title for section 70, Block 11, Apiti. was refused until ibe necessary improvements are effected. Mr Pirani made on explanation in reference to Mr Dillon's application to transfer to Mr McConnell. It was received, nnd it was decided to take no action to forfeit, but to Kraut the transfer when LlO more improvments were •ffected. Applications to capitalise from B. Poole, E. Pierard, G If. Hunt. Pohaul»ina, were approved. A protest from Mr Standrn against the forfeiture of his section in the Forest Reserve Settlement was received, and it was decided to take no action although strong doubts were expressed by all present as to whether Standen had not good grounds for his contention that the transfer should have been allowed to stand, owing to the Commissioner's original report that this transfer would be allowed.
