Primitive Methodist Gathering
Tho members and friends of the above body held a most successful re-union at their annual fete. Additional interest was manifested in the meeting as tho day was taken advantage of to publicly welcome the new Minister, the Rev. G. C. Clement. About 1 o'clock a luncheon was partaken of by those present. Tho viands being sent by the following lady friends: — Mesdaiues Hickford, Clement, Marshall, Pemberthy, Flavell, Thompson (Campbelltown), J. C. Thompson, Gould, Liuton, Trevena, Seigle, Wilson, Curtis, Hubner, Morphy, Smith (2), Richardson, Green, Freeman, Fiddler, Adams, Svendsen, Height, Worsfold, Wool ven, and Collins. After lunch the customary out-of-door games were indulged in, and by 4 o'clock there was quite a large number of j visitors on the Parsonage ground, including several Cambelltown and Halcombe friends. About 4.30 an excellent tea was started, and, through the largo number of guests who wished to partake of it, the tables had to be replenished again and again by the hard-working ladies. Soon after tea a successful sale of useful and ornumental articles was held. Before the gathering broke up Mr Gould got tho members of tho church and visitors together to pass a hearty vote of welcome — proposed by Mr Adams and seconded by Mr Smith — to the new Minister and his partner, which was carried with great applause. Mr Clement, on behalf of himself and wife, feelingly responded, A few spent tho remainder of the evening in music, Ringing, and in. door games which I caused the evening to pass all too quickly and pleasantly away.
