Volunteer Items
There was a good muster of the Man* Chester Rifles on parade on Thursday night. After inspection the men were marched into Ximbolton road where they were exercised in company movemeuts. On their return into the Assembly Rooms, Sergt.- Major Maomillan gave the corps theoritical and practical instruction in guard mounting. The list of names of those intending to go to the encampment was then increased by several members, so that the oorps promises to make a good appearance at Johnsonville. The ammunition for class and volley firing has arrived and as soon as conveniant after Easter the usual course will be taken up. All officers and men of the Manchester Killos attending the encampment will be insured by the New Zealand Accident Insurance Company. Lieuts Kirtou and Bray took out an open policy for them yesterday. ■
